One day Elroy told his Mommy that he was sad. When Elroy's Mommy asked why, Elroy said it was because he was different than all of his friends. And he didn't want to be different. He thought his long neck was too tall. He wanted to be like the rest of his friends.
Elroy's Mommy said, "Oh Honey, don't you know that God made you and He loves you just the way you are? You may be different in that way, but don't you know that God made you special?" Elroy smiled, hung his head and said softly, "Ok Mommy."
Later that day, Elroy was walking in the park when he heard someone yelling, "help, HELP!" He looked around and noticed all of his friends crowded around a huge oak tree. He ran over to see what was going on. When he got closer, he noticed a frantic little kitten named Skeeter stuck waaaaaaay up in the top of the old oak tree. None of his friends were tall enough to reach little Skeeter. Oh no!! What to do?
Suddenly, Elroy realized that HE was tall enough to reach up in the tree and help poor Skeeter get down!! So that's just what he did. When he gently placed the rattled but grateful kitten on the ground, little Skeeter thanked Elroy over and over again.
Elroy just smiled and said, "You're welcome. I could reach you because God made me different. He made me special."
